After evaluating several competing products in 2016, De Gruyter has chosen River Valley’s online proofing platform, ProofCheck.

De Gruyter had previously been sending authors their proofs in PDF format for annotation.  Authors’ corrections would then be implemented to produce the final publication. De Gruyter was looking for a faster and more reliable system in order to minimise admin within the publication workflows of their online-only journals.

Figshare, an online digital repository for academic research, has launched a tool that enables authors to share their research outputs more efficiently during the publishing process.

Springer Nature is the first publisher to pilot this new data submission portal and has worked closely with Figshare to build a customised service to support open research. The tool will reduce the amount of information authors must complete to share data supporting their publications.

Recommended, a service which connects the research community with the most relevant content, has been launched by Springer Nature. The company says the service has been developed in response to the extensive and rapid increase in published research which makes it difficult for researchers to keep up to date with developments in their specific fields.  

SAGE Publishing has published the BERA/SAGE Handbook of Educational Research

Sage Publishing has launched The Sage Handbook of Social Media Research Methods.

The text offers a step-by-step guide to aid researchers overcome the challenges in conducting research projects that deal with the vast data that social media creates, from the formulation of research questions through to the interpretation of findings.

The handbook includes chapters on specific social media platforms, as well as a series of critical chapters on: designing social media research, collecting and storing data, and the diversity of approaches to this type of research.
