03 December 2018
London Art House, Islington, London

This one-day conference, in partnership with Info International Ltd, will use the results of an industry survey (Challenges in Scholarly Publishing 2018) as the starting point for a day of interactive workshops – with each delegate attending focused sessions on publisher, librarian and academic perspectives. Delegates will have a unique opportunity to learn from other stakeholder groups, and take away practical strategic and operational action points back to their own institution.

All delegates will receive a copy of the full survey results on the day, as well as the opportunity to view the results online a few days before the event to help prepare.

The 2017 report is available to view/purchase here.

The event is hosted by Research Information, and chaired by editor Tim Gillett.

Europa Science (publisher of Research Information) managing director Warren Clark will deliver the opening presentation, reviewing the results of the 2018 survey.

Delegates will then divide into three groups, attending three discussions in turn, each focusing on the challenges faced by researchers, publishers and librarians respectively. Each of these groups will comprise representatives from each of those three stakeholder groups, to ensure lively and balanced discussions!

The chairs for our three discussions are as follows:

Researcher Focus - Alastair HorneDoctoral researcher, Bath Spa University and the British Library

Publisher Focus - Audrey McCulloch, chief executive officer, ALPSP

Librarian Focus - Helen Blanchett, scholarly communications subject specialist, JISC

At the end of the day, delegates will reconvene for a Q&A session, in which our three chairs will summarise the themes raised in their respective groups, with a further chance to ask questions and extend the discussion.

The day will provide invaluable insight for those in the scholarly publishing community seeking to strengthen collaborative links with other stakeholder representatives, and a unique opportunity to spend face-to-face time with those from 'the other side of the fence' - whether you're an academic, a librarian, a publisher, or a service provider.

There will be plenty of networking breaks, a three-course lunch, refreshments, and a post-event drinks reception.

Individual delegate rates are £250 for commercial operators (publishers, service providers, consultancies etc) and £100 for librarians and academics.
