Partnership researches Library 2.0 ideas

UK public libraries and archives specialist, DS, has entered into a joint research agreement with Axiell Library Group, a supplier of library management systems to Nordic countries.

The development effort will focus on Library 2.0 content management, portal platforms, and building next-generation user interfaces to complement each company’s library technology.

Nigel Pegg, managing director of DS, sees enormous potential in cooperative R & D. He explained: ‘The pace of technological change and the increasingly sophisticated requirements of library users place enormous demands on system suppliers. The need to constantly improve our products in order to stay at the leading edge of technology needs significant ongoing investment. Sharing this investment with an equally capable and ambitious partner can only be of benefit to DS and Axiell Library Group, and consequently to our customers, their staff and their users.’
