The social research journal, Social Forces, will join Oxford University Press’ publishing programme.

The journal is said to emphasise cutting-edge sociological inquiry and explores the intersections between social research and psychology, anthropology, political science, history, and economics. The journal is published in partnership with the Department of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded in 1922 by pioneering sociologist and social activist Howard Odum.

The journal will be included in the Oxford Journals Digital Archive from 2012, making all issues from volume 1, issue 1, available online to Archive customers. The first issue published by OUP will be September 2011, Volume 90, Issue 1.
