Springer has acquired Obesity Surgery, the official journal of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity, from FD-Communications. The journal publishes a wide range of material, including original research, reviews, technical innovations, guidelines, medico-legal matters and case reports. Obesity Surgery is widely read by bariatric surgeons, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, psychologists/psychiatrists, internists including endocrinologists, diabetologists and nutritional scientists worldwide.

Springer will publish Obesity Surgery in both print and electronic formats. For the remainder of 2006 readers can view the electronic version at IngentaConnect. From January 2007 Obesity Surgery will be available via SpringerLink, Springer’s online information platform, and will include Online First, where articles are published online before they appear in print. Also in 2007, Obesity Surgery will offer all authors, via the Springer Open Choice programme, the option of publishing their articles using the open-access model. Obesity Surgery will also continue to be produced in print format on a monthly basis.
