Annual Reviews, the not-for-profit publisher of review journals, has appointed Richard Gallagher as president and editor-in-chief.

Samuel Gubins will be retiring after 20 years of service and will remain with Annual Reviews to ensure a smooth and successful transition. Annual reviews says the appointment of Gallagher, signals a continued priority of publishing excellence, and reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to facilitating worldwide scholarly progress.

'Annual Reviews is a cherished resource,' said Gallagher. 'It publishes the most insightful overviews from the leading researchers across almost all of the sciences. I have been an avid reader since the first volume of the Annual Review of Immunology was published in 1983, and it still gives me chills to look at those articles today.

'I am thrilled to become president and editor-in-chief and I look forward to working with the staff and editorial committees to further develop the services that Annual Reviews provides for the science community.”

Gallagher joins Annual Reviews with more than 26 years of experience in scientific publishing. In his most recent role as co-founder and editorial director of Texere Publishing, he developed print, web, tablet, and smart phone products for the scientific, technical, and medical markets.
