Portland Press, which publishes journals, books and electronic resources in the biochemical, cellular and molecular life sciences, has signed an agreement with the Chinese National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) for country-wide, online access to its journals. Negotiations were facilitated by The Charlesworth Group.

The three-year licence will provide online access to papers published in Biochemical Journal and other Portland Press titles throughout China. The publisher sees this development as an important part of the vision to increase the submission and publication of high-quality papers by Chinese researchers to its journals. The licence takes effect immediately.

Adam Marshall, head of sales & marketing said, 'This [licence] reflects our commitment to the development of science and technology in the Asia-Pacific region and following on the opening of the Beijing Editorial office last year, is the next step in securing the availability of our research content and back archives for our Chinese colleagues.'
