MIT agrees open-access policy

The faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA is adopting a university-wide open-access policy. Under the new policy, each faculty member grants MIT non-exclusive permission to make available his or her scholarly articles to the public in an open-access repository.
The policy takes effect immediately and will be reviewed after five years by the Faculty Policy Committee.
