Macmillan Science and Education appoints COO

Ken Michaels has been appointed global chief operating officer (COO) for Macmillan Science and Education, the new business that brings together business such as Palgrave Macmillan, Digital Science and Nature Publishing Group. He will be based in New York and London and will join the group at the end of August. He was previously president and COO of the Hachette Book Group.

Ken Michaels said: 'There has never been a more exciting time to be in publishing, and the bringing together of Macmillan’s portfolio of science and education businesses represents a powerful opportunity, to make a major impact on learning and discovery around the world. I am looking forward to what we can achieve with a new structure and focus.'

Macmillan Science and Education was formed a year ago to unite all of Macmillan’s scientific, scholarly, academic and education businesses.
