Semantico has been chosen by IOS Press to design and deliver a publishing platform to support its collection of STM books and journals. IOS Press publishes more than 100 international journals and approximately 75 book titles each year on subjects ranging from computer sciences and mathematics to medicine and the natural sciences.

The content platform will have an emphasis on a simpler, more elegant content delivery infrastructure, with the aim of improving discoverability and precise search functionality. In 2015 the IOS Press journals will migrate away from their current MetaPress platform – and, alongside their books, will be incorporated into the new publishing platform.

Semantico will use their Scolaris and SAMS products in the build. Scolaris is next generation integrated content platform, engineered to manage the complexities of journals, ebooks, reference works and dictionaries. SAMS, Semantico’s renowned access management system will be used for ecommerce and to generate greater subscription opportunities for IOS Press.

'Following Metapress’ decision to close their platform in 2015, we looked at alternative suppliers. The proposal from Semantico made sense and fits perfectly with our future strategic direction in terms of delivery for our customers. By appointing Semantico to migrate our content and implement a new platform, we are confident that the current services for our customers will not be interrupted,' said Popke Huizinga, director of IOS Press.

Lorraine Ellery, business development manager, Semantico added: 'I am delighted that IOS Press has chosen to partner with Semantico and we look forward to building a long-term partnership.'
