Michigan's Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Libraries has selected Millennium, Innovative's Integrated Library System (ILS). The Libraries had previously installed the Encore discovery services platform in 2007 and are a second-wave development partner for that product.

‘The decision to implement Encore and Millennium was primarily driven by enhancing the user experience and providing better search capabilities of our data,’ said Ron Berry, director of access services. ‘Using them together will provide better services to our users in terms of discovery, real-time information, personalisation features provided by My Millennium, and more.’

The Libraries are migrating from a Voyager system provided by Ex Libris Ltd. Berry continues: ‘I have previous experience with Millennium and was impressed by Innovative's Help Desk as well as their development and support of products like External Patron Verification [LDAP] and RSS Feed Builder."

The Libraries will also begin participation in the Michigan Electronic Library (MeL) later this year. MeL is the state's ‘anytime, anywhere’ library comprised of over 250 libraries offering a total of nearly 30 million items.
