Germany-based Fraunhofer Society has signed a three-year contract with US research information provider, Thomson Scientific, to access its 'ISI Web of Knowledge' platform for scientific research.

The society, made up of 56 institutions throughout Germany, will have access to the 'Web of Science' and 'Journal Citation' report resources.

Martina Lillmanntoens from the Fraunhofer Society’s Information Management Department said: 'The additional value provided by ISI Web of Knowledge through tools such as Journal Citation Reports will enable our researchers to improve their research as well as improve publishing activities to secure future funding.'

According to Thomson Scientific, the ISI Web of Knowledge delivers access to information in the sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities, as well as providing search and analysis tools.

The platform allows users to search for content and relevant information from international journals, open access resources, books, patents, proceedings or web sites.
