GeoScienceWorld (GSW) and HighWire Press are expanding on their existing journals partnership with the announcement of a new integrated e-books platform that will be built on the HighWire Open Platform.

The GSW eBooks Collections promises to be the first nonprofit, multi-publisher e-books platform devoted to the study of the earth sciences. It will include more than 1,000 scholarly titles at launch with library-preferred purchasing and access models. It will include mobile access, faceted and map-based searching, metadata-driven content recommendations, and social sharing tools. Library trials will be available in January with public product release planned for May 2014.

'HighWire has been a trusted partner for our publishers for nearly a decade. With the addition of their Folio eBook product and incorporation of Drupal technologies, HighWire has increased its commitment to creative solutions with its Open Platform. We're excited about the prospects for our new work together,' said Alix Vance, executive director of GeoScienceWorld.
