Oliver Pesch has been elected chair of the board of the National Information Standards Organisation (NISO) for the 2008-2009 term. Pesch is chief strategist for EBSCO Information Services.

'NISO looks forward to the leadership that Pesch will provide. He has exemplified the changes NISO is pursuing, particularly as co-chair of the Standardised Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative (SUSHI), which under his guidance passed through the standards process in very rapid fashion,' said Todd Carpenter, managing director of NISO. 'Pesch has been an active participant on the NISO board of directors and is a frequent, outspoken champion of standards in e-resources management and licensing. We are grateful to Pesch, as well as EBSCO Information Services, for their contributions and support of NISO and the entire community.'
