Call for scholarship applicants

Thomson Reuters has announced that it is seeking applicants from Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa for its 2008 Roger K. Summit International Scholarship. The €5,000 award is given annually to a promising graduate student in library and information sciences.

Two scholarships are awarded annually to graduate students enrolled in an accredited library or information sciences program, one in the Americas, and one in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa. The scholarship is named in honour of Dr Roger K. Summit, a pioneer in developing the technology behind online information retrieval. It is awarded to graduate students enrolled in library or information science programs.

‘As the information industry evolves, it is increasingly important that information professionals develop a range of skills that will allow them to excel in information management for their future organisations,’ said Libby Trudell, senior vice president in market development. ‘We are committed to supporting the next generation of information professionals with the Roger K. Summit Scholarship.’

The deadline for applicants is October 24, 2008. The winner will be announced at the 2008 Online Information Conference and Exhibition, to be held December 2-4, 2008, in London. Applications are available at gep.dialog.com/scholarship/application.shtml.
