Annual Reviews has made its journals available to all (without access control), in an effort to assist students, faculty, and researchers who are working and studying remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. The policy is effective immediately and will run until 30 April – at which point, the organisation will assess the need to extend this agreement.
President and editor-In-chief of Annual Reviews, Richard Gallagher, said: 'Reviews are a treasure trove of knowledge, particularly well-suited to remote teaching and learning. As a nonprofit organisation run for the benefit of science and the progress of society, we hope that this action will make the time spent away from research and academic institutions a little easier.'
Gallagher highlighted another online teaching resource also published by Annual Reviews that is always openly available, Knowable Magazine – a digital publication that explores the real-world significance of scholarly work through a journalistic lens.
Annual Reviews is a nonprofit publisher dedicated to synthesising and integrating knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society.
