ALBA Synchrotron selects archiving solutions

The ALBA Synchrotron Light Facility near Barcelona, Spain, which was completed in early 2011, has selected an eight-drive LTO5-based NEO 8000e tape library from Overland Storage in partnership with digital archiving and back-up solutions from Atempo.
Supplied by Spanish reseller Flytech, the Overland NEO 8000e provides a long-term data storage and archiving solution for organisations with massive amounts of data. The Overland solution enables ALBA to archive 250TB of data to the 1.5PB library in a two-month period.
Atempo Digital Archive’s (ADA) file-archiving and storage management capabilities are said to free space by allowing ALBA to migrate data automatically whilst ensuring cost effective, fast access as research continues.
