Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports
Bioscientifica, the non-profit publishing arm of the Society for Endocrinology, has announced the forthcoming launch of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports – a new open access product, which will publish and link together case reports in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports is owned by Bioscientifica and endorsed by collaborating societies worldwide.
'Our ambition is to provide the community with a fantastic information resource to further both medical education and clinical practice,' said Leon Heward-Mills, managing director of Bioscientifica. 'We want to serve the needs of the international community by introducing a reputable, peer-reviewed publishing outlet for case reports that is dedicated to the field.'
Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports will be led by Maralyn Druce – Clinical Reader in Endocrine Medicine and Consultant in Endocrinology, St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, UK. An editorial board is currently being recruited.
Case reports on common and rare conditions in all areas of clinical endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism will be published, with the broad scope including articles reporting unusual symptoms, novel treatments or key findings that shed new light on the possible pathogenesis of a disease.
The publication will be open access, providing authors with rapid dissemination of their work and ensuring that users have free, unrestricted and immediate access to the latest high-quality, peer reviewed reports.
'There is currently no product with high-quality peer review processes in place that publishes and links together case reports in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism,' said Dr Druce. 'Our vision is to offer sophisticated search and browse functionality, with each case report outlining key messages, enabling practitioners to communicate findings, share knowledge and convey medical experiences efficiently and effectively.'
Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism Case Reports opens for submissions in March.
