Scientific organisations unite to launch diamond OA journal for AI research
IOP Publishing has partnered with three scientific organisations to launch AI Horizons, a new diamond open-access journal focused on artificial intelligence in engineering and science.
The journal is being launched in partnership with the Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo (EIT), the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology (ZAST), and the World Association of Young Scientists (WAYSS).
AI Horizons will provide a platform for research spanning AI for engineering and science, as well as spatiotemporal, embodied and quantum intelligence.
According to the partners, the journal will encourage intellectual risk-taking, methodological pluralism and new approaches that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries. Its sponsors aim to build an international research community around convergent AI, supporting collaboration and the translation of research breakthroughs into practical applications.
The journal will operate under a diamond open-access model, with publication costs covered by its sponsors. Authors will therefore be able to publish gold OA under a CC BY 4.0 licence without paying article processing charges (APCs).
AI Horizons is due to open for submissions in October and will be overseen by an international editorial board of scientists and engineers. Editorial operations and peer review will be managed by the Editorial Office at Eastern Institute of Technology in China.
