MDPI acquires three Swiss medical journals from EMH
MDPI has acquired three Swiss medical journals from former publisher Editores Medicorum Helveticorum (EMH), expanding its portfolio of open access healthcare titles.
The journals are Swiss Archives of Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (SANPP), Primary and Hospital Care (PHC), and Cardiovascular Medicine. The publisher has now released the first issues of SANPP (Volume 176, Issue 1) and PHC (Volume 25, Issue 1), following the relaunch of Cardiovascular Medicine late last year.
All three journals will be available free to read, share and download via MDPI’s open access publishing platform.
Founded in 1917, SANPP has a long history of supporting clinical and scientific exchange in Switzerland and internationally. The journal has published work by several prominent researchers, including Nobel Prize winners Dr. Walter Rudolf Hess and Dr. Rita Levi-Montalcini.

MDPI has also taken ownership of Primary and Hospital Care, which provides a platform for healthcare professionals working across primary and hospital care. The publisher said the journal is currently in discussions to appoint a new editor-in-chief.

Cardiovascular Medicine transferred to MDPI late last year with the publication of Volume 28, Issue 1. Since then, the journal has established a new editorial board comprising Swiss and international experts and has formed collaborations with the Swiss Society of Perfusion and the Swiss Society of Cardiac Surgery.

MDPI said it has published more than 17,700 articles affiliated with Swiss research institutions since 2020, with more than 15,000 indexed in both Web of Science and Scopus.
