EBSCO Information Services has officially launched Art Source Ultimate, a comprehensive, full-text database designed to support both research and education in the fields of art and architecture.

This new resource, says the company, is the largest full-text research database of its kind. It offers researchers depth, breadth, and international scope across global art and architecture studies. Art Source Ultimate includes more than 970 full-text journals and magazines. These titles cover all periods and styles of art, ranging from fine art and art history to graphic design, industrial design, architecture, and interior design.

Broadening the scope of visual culture

The collection spans a vast range of disciplines. It includes contemporary and non-Western art, decorative arts, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, landscape architecture, and museology. By incorporating these diverse subjects, the database reflects cultural perspectives from across the globe.

EBSCO Art Source Ultimate is designed to meet the evolving needs of academic libraries and their users. It delivers curated, high-quality content that helps researchers analyse visual culture. Furthermore, it allows students to explore design theory and examine the complex social, political, and historical contexts that shape artistic expression.

Supporting the modern academic library

For librarians, Art Source Ultimate simplifies the discovery process. Rather than managing fragmented subscriptions, institutions can provide a single, robust entry point for their users. This consolidation is essential for modern academic libraries that need to deliver high-quality digital assets while managing tighter budgets.

Dave Mangione, Senior Vice President of Research Databases at EBSCO Information Services, stated that Art Source Ultimate will significantly enhance academic art and architecture research.
“By bringing together an unparalleled collection of full-text journals and magazines covering a variety of disciplines, time periods, and global perspectives, this resource equips students and scholars with the authoritative content they need,” Mangione said. “They can explore complex ideas, support original research, and advance scholarship with confidence.”

A commitment to authoritative resources

Art Source Ultimate joins EBSCO’s existing collection of specialised art and architecture research databases. This launch reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering authoritative full-text resources. By combining extensive coverage from renowned international sources onto one platform, EBSCO continues to provide the scholarly community with the tools required for rigorous academic inquiry.
