The Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications (C4DISC) is seeking volunteers to join its new Communications and Outreach Working Group.

C4DISC is a coalition of scholarly communications organisations working to build equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility across the industry. Its mission is to work with organisations and individuals to build equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in scholarly communications, with a vision of creating a socially just community that welcomes, values, and celebrates all who seek to contribute to scholarly communications.

With fifteen member organisations, partners and many working group volunteers, C4DISC has developed resources, established partnerships, and continues to implement meaningful initiatives that advance DEI in the industry.

The organisation is forming a Communications and Outreach Working Group to expand its reach, enhance its messaging, and engage more effectively with the scholarly communications community. These are the kinds of tasks the committee will undertake:

  • Create content for its website, newsletters, and social media channels;
  • Identify and engage potential new member organisations and partners;
  • Develop outreach materials and presentations;
  • Design promotional materials and infographics;
  • Help with social media presence and online community building;
  • Track and analyse engagement metrics;
  • Engage with partner and adopting organisations for learning opportunities; and
  • Scan scholarly communications landscape for DEIA events and initiatives to amplify.

Volunteers will need to commit to:

  • Monthly working group meetings (one to two hours via video conference);
  • Project work (A maximum two hours per month, flexible timing); and
  • Occasional events or special initiatives (as available).

Anyone interested should complete the working group application form and put “Communications” where asked which Group you are interested in.
