APS journals migrate to River Valley Technologies’ ReView platform
The American Physiological Society (APS) has completed the migration of its journal portfolio to River Valley Technologies’ (RVT) ReView submission and peer review platform, following the replacement of two legacy editorial systems.
The implementation, which went live in early June after contracts were signed in February, brings APS journals onto a single platform for manuscript submission, peer review, research integrity screening, reporting and downstream publishing workflows.
According to RVT, the project included the migration of user data, metadata and workflow history from the previous systems, allowing APS to retain access to historical editorial information while benefiting from a more consistent and reportable environment.
The ReView platform also supports MECA-based article transfer, enabling the movement of manuscript files and metadata between systems and improving interoperability across the society’s journals. The implementation accommodates APS’s range of publishing models, including Subscribe to Open (S2O), Gold Open Access, Diamond Open Access and Hybrid publishing, while integrations with the society’s billing and subscription systems are intended to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
APS has also adopted RVT’s integrated research integrity dashboard, RVRi, which is embedded within the editorial workflow to help editorial teams identify potential integrity issues and support consistent editorial assessment.
