Wiley launches Atypon AI Suite to enhance research discovery

Wiley has launched the Atypon AI Suite, a set of AI-powered tools embedded within the Atypon Experience Platform designed to help researchers navigate scholarly literature more effectively.
As the volume of research continues to grow, many researchers face challenges in identifying the most relevant content, interpreting highly specialised material, and prioritising their reading. The Atypon AI Suite aims to address these issues by integrating AI tools directly into established, on-platform environments, allowing users to work within trusted sources.
At launch, the suite introduces two new features: AI Companion and AI Summaries.
The AI Companion enables researchers to interact directly with content by asking questions and clarifying concepts as they read. The tool is designed to support deeper engagement with complex material without requiring users to leave the authoritative source. Wiley says it is continuing to refine and optimise the AI Companion, incorporating feedback from researchers to improve performance and usability.
AI Summaries provide structured overviews of content, including one-sentence summaries and layperson summaries. These are intended to help readers quickly assess relevance and make informed decisions about where to focus their time and attention.
“As the volume of research has expanded dramatically, the tools available to support researchers as they read, assess, and engage with scholarly content have changed significantly,” said Jessica Faucher, VP, Digital Product Management at Wiley. “Through these AI-enhanced services, we’re making it easier to explore and engage with academic content while respecting the principles, precision, and rigour of scholarly communication.”
