IEEE launches multidisciplinary, open-access mega journal

IEEE Access will be the first open-access mega journal in the IEEE's open-access publishing programme. The scope of this all-electronic, archival publication will comprise all IEEE fields of interest, emphasising applications-oriented and interdisciplinary articles, says the society.

The new journal promises: rigorous peer-review process; expedited, paperless publication process; and multimedia integration (video abstracts, etc.). IEEE says that each published article will be accompanied by usage and citation data and potentially reach the millions who search IEEE Xplore, attend conferences, and conduct research in all technology sectors. All published articles will be maintained in the IEEE archive, in perpetuity, with free access to all.

The article-processing charge will be US$1,750 per article.
