Silverchair has announced an expanded partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to host the organisation’s journals portfolio on the Silverchair Platform.

Silverchair has served as RSC’s books platform since 2023. The new agreement builds on that relationship and will see more than 50 journals migrate to the Silverchair Platform, supporting the society’s continued growth and innovation in chemical sciences publishing.

Founded in 1841, the Royal Society of Chemistry is an international organisation connecting chemical scientists across disciplines and borders. It provides support and resources to thousands of researchers worldwide and publishes a broad portfolio of journals as part of its mission to develop, recognise and celebrate professional capabilities while advancing new discoveries.

According to the partners, the move will enhance the availability of scholarly articles and enable RSC to further foster the growth and application of chemical science through improved dissemination of chemical knowledge. When launched, the new RSC site is intended to strengthen interoperability and discoverability through enhanced features and a modern user experience.

“The Royal Society of Chemistry has built a remarkable legacy over nearly two centuries of supporting the chemistry community,” said Silverchair CEO Will Schweitzer. “We’re honoured to support their continued evolution and growth as they work toward ambitious goals for expanding access to chemical knowledge. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to advancing scholarly communication through technology that serves both publishers and researchers.”

Dr. Emma Wilson, Royal Society of Chemistry Director of Publishing said: “This has been an exciting opportunity for us to work with the Silverchair team, to really delve into the user experience for our international researcher community and ensure that their groundbreaking work is discoverable by the largest possible audience.

“We’re proud to publish cutting-edge chemistry that creates global impact – discoveries and insights that improve health, environment and lifestyles for all of us, wherever we are in the world.”
