This year, we will be running a new and improved virtual event – introducing Research Information Live. It’s completely free to attend and will take place across 6, 7 and 8 December.

We bring together the scholarly research community for a series of interactive webcasts featuring influential voices that represent every corner of the sector; each with their own perspectives on the current challenges and exciting future developments in the industry.

What will be discussed at Research Information Live?

Research Information Live is a virtual event where you will hear from experts and leaders in scholarly communications and a lively debate can be promised about the challenges we are facing and some insightful perspective on the issues we all share. Below are the topics that will be covered during the three-day event.

Topic 1: Libraries as publishers

In an effort to short-circuit the traditional publishing route, libraries are increasingly publishing their own material. What are the upsides to this and what are the problems associated with this route? What tools are available to libraries who want to publish?

Topic 2: Transformative agreements

With ever-tighter budgets, how do institutions decide whether transformative/read-and -publish agreements represent good value? If they do make the decision, what are the implications for librarians?

Topic 3: Conforming to the REF: An international view

The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is a UK-specific measure for research institutions to assess the quality of their research output. We will aim to look at this within a global context and explore similar frameworks that are utilised in other parts of the world.
