IOPP and China Science Publishing & Media announce partnership

IOP Publishing (IOPP) has announced a strategic partnership with China Science Publishing & Media (CSPM) aimed at improving the discoverability and accessibility of international scientific research for researchers in China.
IOPP, the publishing arm of the Institute of Physics, will make metadata from its journal portfolio available through SciEngine, CSPM’s digital publishing and knowledge platform. CSPM, historically known as Science Press, is one of China’s largest scientific publishing groups and is affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The collaboration is intended to make it easier for Chinese researchers to discover peer-reviewed research published by IOPP across physics and related interdisciplinary disciplines, while strengthening links between China’s research community and international scholarly literature.
Antonia Seymour, Chief Executive Officer at IOPP, said: “Researchers today have access to more information than ever before, making it challenging to find the most relevant and trustworthy research. By working with CSPM and SciEngine, we can help more Chinese researchers connect with high-quality scientific content and ensure important discoveries reach the communities that can build on them.
“This partnership reflects the importance of China’s research community and our commitment to supporting stronger global connections in science.”
The agreement reflects efforts by scholarly publishers to improve the visibility of research across regional discovery platforms and facilitate international knowledge exchange.
Zhang Fan, Vice President at CSPM, said: “Strengthening international scholarly communication and promoting the global exchange of knowledge are important, shared responsibilities of scientific publishers. The strategic partnership between CSPM and IOP Publishing will further leverage the strengths of both organisations in international scholarly publishing and digital platforms, making high-quality international research content more discoverable and accessible to researchers in China.
“As CSPM’s digital publishing and knowledge service platform, SciEngine will continue to strengthen collaboration with leading publishers around the world and provide researchers with more convenient and efficient ways to discover high-quality scholarly content. We look forward to building on this partnership to deepen our collaboration in scholarly publishing and digital dissemination, and to further strengthen connections and exchange between researchers in China and the international research community.”
