Clear Skies Ltd. has announced a three-year agreement with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) to screen up to one million research article submissions using Oversight, the world’s first index of research integrity.

IEEE publishes nearly a third of the world’s technical literature in electrical engineering, computing, and electronics, spanning journals, magazines, books, and standards. Under the new agreement, Oversight will be embedded directly into IEEE’s publishing workflows, enabling large-scale, systematic screening of incoming submissions.

Oversight is a service that provides reporting on journal submissions, peer review standards, and editorial workflows. The partners say the integration of the platform into IEEE’s publishing pipeline marks one of the largest integrity-focused screening initiatives undertaken by a scholarly publisher to date.

Luigi Longobardi of IEEE commented: “Integrity is the foundation of scientific progress. Partnering with Clear Skies provides tools to support our expert editorial and integrity teams. Oversight helps to safeguard the trust our community places in IEEE publications.”

Adam Day, CEO of Clear Skies Ltd., added: “This is a watershed moment for research integrity. Oversight already routinely screens the entire published research literature. Our submission screening service for publishers has grown rapidly since the official launch of Oversight. We have enjoyed working with IEEE for some time, and are delighted to take the partnership to a new level. Together with IEEE, and our partners across the publishing industry, we are redefining integrity.”

Oversight offers the first-ever index of research integrity, enabling integrity to be measured across the global research ecosystem at the level of articles, journals, institutions, and funders. The platform also delivers comprehensive submission screening with detailed insights into submission quality, peer review processes, and editorial workflows.

Designed to operate at scale, Oversight can process millions of articles each year and has been recognised with multiple industry awards, including the ALPSP Innovation Award, the Vesalius Innovation Awards, and the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) EPIC Awards.
