Taylor & Francis expands use of AI manuscript screening with Integra

Taylor & Francis has renewed and expanded its partnership with publishing and editorial solutions provider Integra to provide tailored language support for authors.
The expanded agreement builds on a longstanding collaboration between the two organisations and will see wider use of Integra’s AI-powered manuscript assessment platform, EditorialPilot, with the aim of improving manuscript quality and streamlining editorial workflows.
Language quality can play a significant role during peer review, with poorly written submissions potentially hindering reviewers’ understanding of research findings or inadvertently influencing evaluation outcomes. The partners say this can create additional barriers for researchers who are not fluent in English.
Under the expanded partnership, language and quality issues will be addressed earlier in the submission process, allowing more consistent quality assessment before manuscripts enter the editorial pipeline.
EditorialPilot evaluates submissions at an early stage using more than 100 automated checks covering language quality, technical requirements, research integrity and metadata completeness. The platform assigns each submission a reproducible quality score using a combination of AI-driven assessment tools.
Where manuscripts do not meet the required standards, Taylor & Francis editorial teams can use the platform to provide authors with detailed feedback and suggestions for improvement before the peer review process progresses.
Bart Loevens, Vice President, Business Development – Europe at Integra, said: “EditorialPilot provides editorial teams with a reliable, data-driven view of manuscript quality across language, technical, and integrity dimensions—not just grammar and style. As submission volumes grow, consistent early-stage screening becomes critical to maintaining both quality and efficiency. Our work with Taylor & Francis is rooted in a shared commitment to research integrity, author experience, and operational consistency.”
Sriram Subramanya, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Integra, added: “Taylor & Francis has been a valued long-term partner, and we are pleased to expand this collaboration in support of their editorial teams. Publishers today need scalable, consistent approaches to manuscript assessment. Through EditorialPilot, we combine AI-powered screening with deep publishing expertise to help editorial teams make faster, more informed decisions—while upholding quality, integrity, and a strong author experience.”
Ramesh Munuswamy, Head of Content Validation and Peer Review at Taylor & Francis, said: “The expansion of our partnership with Integra underscores Taylor & Francis’ commitment to a seamless, high-quality editorial experience and to tailored language support for authors. By integrating Integra’s EditorialPilot into our workflows, our teams help researchers communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence, enhancing reviewer understanding and maximising the reach and impact of their work.”
