Research collaboration platform ResearchGate and academic publisher De Gruyter Brill have announced a major expansion of their Journal Home partnership, extending coverage to 100 journals across a broad mix of open access, subscription and hybrid titles.

Under the agreement, participating journals will have their content automatically uploaded to ResearchGate, where it will be integrated into dedicated Journal Home profiles. These profiles are designed to increase visibility, showcase journal communities and strengthen branding, while ensuring that newly published articles are distributed to ResearchGate’s global network of more than 25 million researcher members.

The expanded partnership builds on momentum from 2025, when De Gruyter Brill reported increased visibility, usage and authorship across journals participating in the initiative. As part of the latest agreement, the Open Access Agreement Upgrade (OAAU) will now apply to all 100 journals, helping authors identify and access institutional funding available through the publisher’s agreements with research organisations. The move is intended to lower barriers to open access participation across both STM and humanities disciplines.

In addition, all participating journals will now benefit from the Community Engagement Upgrade (CEU), a recently launched feature set aimed at strengthening connections between editors, authors and readers. The CEU provides editors with access to demographic insights about their journal audiences, tools for targeted content distribution – including “Editor Picks” – and functionality designed to enhance engagement and extend the reach of published research.

“Expanding our Journal Home partnership to 100 journals is a significant step in supporting our goal of connecting researchers with the articles, journals and communities they need to be successful in their research,” said Zita Jeukendrup, VP of Marketing at De Gruyter Brill. “The addition of the Community Engagement Upgrade gives our editors powerful new ways to understand and engage with their journals’ authors and readers, while the Open Access Agreement Upgrade continues to remove barriers to OA participation for our communities.”

Mathias Astell, VP of Commercial Products at ResearchGate, added: “De Gruyter Brill has consistently shown a willingness to innovate in how research is shared and discovered, and this expanded partnership is a testament to that ambition. With 100 journals now benefiting from Journal Home’s full suite of features – including our new Community Engagement Upgrade – we are giving editors and journal teams the insights and tools to further reach highly relevant readers and authors and strengthen the impact of their publications across our global network.”
