Taylor & Francis renews partnership with Cactus Communications

Taylor & Francis has renewed its partnership with Cactus Communications to continue providing language support for researchers submitting manuscripts to its journals.
The collaboration centres on Paperpal Preflight, an AI-powered tool designed to help authors refine the language and clarity of their submissions before they enter the peer review process. The aim is to reduce the likelihood of manuscripts being rejected due to writing quality rather than the underlying research.
Through the partnership, Taylor & Francis editorial teams can use Paperpal Preflight to assess manuscripts that require language improvement. The system provides detailed feedback to authors, including suggestions on grammar, spelling and clarity, allowing researchers to revise their manuscripts before they proceed to editorial evaluation.
Taylor & Francis adopted Paperpal Preflight in 2024 as part of its editorial workflow. According to the companies, the tool has since helped hundreds of authors improve the quality of their manuscripts to a level suitable for editorial assessment. The renewed agreement will see the tool continue to be used across the publisher’s submission processes.
Nikesh Gosalia, Chief Partnership Officer, Cactus Communications, said: “As publishers face increasing submission volumes, preserving the integrity of scholarly research has never been more important. The renewal of our collaboration with Taylor & Francis reflects their continued commitment to investing in solutions that enhance consistency, efficiency, and quality across editorial workflows. Sustained partnerships like this are critical to shaping editorial systems that support both volume and quality in an evolving research landscape.”
For Taylor & Francis, the renewed partnership reflects a continued focus on supporting authors at the early stages of the publishing process, particularly those who may face language barriers.
Michaela Atherley, Director of Editorial Operations at Taylor & Francis, said: “We are committed to supporting authors in preparing their manuscripts for peer review, ensuring their ideas are clearly articulated and accessible to editors and reviewers. Paperpal Preflight is a valuable tool in this process, helping authors refine their language and improve the flow of their work, particularly for those whose first language isn’t English.”
“By reducing language barriers, we’re enabling authors to focus on their research and reach editors and reviewers more effectively. This partnership reflects our dedication to enhancing the editorial process and empowering authors to share their work with confidence.”
