Wiley and ISA strike co-publishing deal

Wiley and the International Society of Automation (ISA) have announced a strategic co-publishing partnership to expand global access to ISA’s technical and educational content.
The agreement will see Wiley assume control of ISA’s backlist of around 70 titles and publish five new titles this year, including a revision of ISA’s flagship book, A Guide to the Automation Body of Knowledge, Fourth Edition. The organisations will collaborate to acquire and develop new and revised titles, with a goal of publishing five to eight books annually aligned with ISA’s technical focus areas.
The partnership combines ISA’s subject expertise with Wiley’s editorial capabilities and international sales and distribution network. ISA’s editorial independence will be preserved under the agreement.
“Our partnership with Wiley enables ISA to significantly expand the reach and impact of our educational content at a time when automation is transforming industries worldwide,” said Rick Zabel, managing director of ISA publications and Automation.com. “We are gaining access to global distribution channels and digital platforms that will make ISA’s authoritative guidance available to automation professionals everywhere, while maintaining the editorial integrity and technical rigor our members expect.”
“This collaboration truly demonstrates how specialised technical societies can achieve scale and sustainability while preserving their editorial mission,” said Amanda Miller, Wiley group vice president, Advanced Content. “We’re very excited to be working with such a well-established, highly esteemed organisation and helping to bring its expertise to a broader global audience.”
ISA, founded in 1945, is a non-profit professional association focused on advancing automation through standards development, certification, education, publishing and events.
