The Call for Papers for the 2026 Researcher to Reader Conference will be open throughout July and August 2025, and the Conference will take place in central London on 24-25 February 2026.

The conference board welcomes proposals from all members of the scholarly communications community, but particularly encourages proposals for its popular workshops, and from people typically under-represented on conference platforms.

The Researcher to Reader Conference is a key forum for discussion of international scholarly communications – exploring how academic knowledge is conveyed from the researcher to the reader.

Topics recently covered have included: Early Career Researchers, OA Standards, Open Data, Disability Within Publishing, Open Books, Transformative Agreements, Business Models, The Hybrid Workplace, APC-free Open Access, Preprint Peer Review, Mergers, Acquisitions & Consolidation, and Research Data Discoverability.

Conference director Mark Carden makes the following key points:

  • The proposals are a key contribution to the programme;
  • Any individual involved in scholarly communication can make a proposal;
  • Any topic relevant to people working across scholarly communications is of interest;
  • High quality, early and pre-reviewed proposals have a higher acceptance rate;
  • There are two deadlines:
    31 July 2025 – with pre-review, revision opportunity and higher acceptance probability;
    31 August 2025 – with no time for revisions, just passed to the committee (or rejected);
  • Accepted contributors are entitled to discounted or free registration

More information about the call for papers process is given on the R2R Website. Conference registration will be open from October to February.
