The Springer Nature white paper, From Access to Impact, explores how different routes to open access affect the visibility, reach and influence of research published in hybrid journals. Based on an analysis of more than 200,000 articles across 1,800+ journals, the findings show that gold open access continues to be associated with greater reach and impact and is linked to faster dissemination than both green OA and non-OA articles.
The white paper also examines how gold open access can help research travel further across geographic regions, including low-income and lower-middle-income countries, supporting broader participation in the global research ecosystem.
