Semantico to build global scholarly author registry
Industry consortium ORCID has chosen Semantico to help build the first phase of its worldwide registry for scholarly authors.
Over 275 organisations from 40 different countries have come together to participate in and support ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). The ORCID initiative aims to establish an open, independent registry by assigning unique identifiers linkable to an individual's research output. The system will also enhance the scientific discovery process and improve the efficiency of research funding and collaboration within the research community.
The ORCID software platform will use an API-driven service-oriented architecture, and is being developed using an agile, iterative process. It will be released as open-source software using an MIT licence.
