The organisers of Challenges in the Scholarly Publishing Cycle (CISPC) 2020 are delighted to confirm that there will be a number of free places for librarians and academics for the virtual event.

In an increasingly open world – encompassing open research, open science and open data – some of the biggest challenges are around educating researchers about the changes they have to make to their working practices.

Conference co-chair Tim Gillett said: ‘Librarians and researchers make up the vast majority of the Research Information readership, and as such we are delighted to be able to offer these free places to what will be a fascinating and informative event.

‘Our 2020 conference, on 30 November and 1 December, will build on the success of last year’s event by providing librarians and information professionals with deeper knowledge and understanding of communication strategies for open research.’

We'll also be reflecting on the research landscape in a post-Covid world; the changes we've had to make this year, the medium-term outlook, and long-lasting – if not permanent – ways in which the scholarly publishing cycle will have to adjust in future years.

At CISPC 2020, we will be bringing together speakers from around the world that have developed effective scholarly communication strategies within their own institutions, and who will share their experiences and expertise with fellow scholarly communication professionals.

We’re also increasing the time available for 'break-out' discussions, enabling delegates to share and learn from each other in an informal environment.

Research Information is delighted that the event is being kindly sponsored by ISSN, Clarivate Analytics, and the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Where no fee for attendance has been charged, the organisers of CISPC reserve the right to administer a £60 cancellation charge to delegates who do not show on both days of the conference and have not notified the organisers in writing. We reserve the right to limit the number of places per organisation per event. Please don’t apply for one of these complimentary places unless you fully intend to attend the event!
