CABI to merge with SciDev.Net

CABI (the Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International) and SciDev.Net have agreed to merge, with the aim of creating a stronger and more diverse combined organisation to help boost their shared mission to improve lives around the world.

CABI is an intergovernmental, not-for-profit organisation that improves people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. It was established by a United Nations treaty-level agreement. CABI's 48 member countries guide and influence its work, which is delivered by scientific staff based in its global network of centres.

SciDev.Net is a provider of news, views and analysis about science and technology for global development. It produces news and feature articles, opinion pieces, multimedia packages, and data visualisations in English, French, Arabic and Spanish. Its specialist journalists based in hubs in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia generate articles shared by over 60 outlets and reaching 20m readers every quarter.

The reach of its five regional editions supports CABI’s mission of putting information about agriculture and the environment into the hands of those who need it most.

Both organisations believe the merger will lead to innovations in the way research is published and shared, and will contribute to better development communications and extension.
