The SCOAP3 consortium, which is pushing for open access to published high-energy physics research, has announced new partners.

These include Purdue University, Triangle Research Libraries Network (TRLN) and the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) in the USA. These have pledged to re-direct their expenditures for subscriptions to High-Energy Physics journals to the SCOAP3 initiative.

This follows last week's announcement that The Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) has joined SCOAP3 on behalf of Turkey.

SCOAP3 now has partners in 18 countries. These partners have collectively pledged 4.7 million euros towards the yearly operation of the consortium.
